Travel agent
A recent global survey conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) and YouGov found that around 70% of the world’s travel agencies will no longer exist within three years.
Why do travel agencies seem to be disappearing at such a rapid pace? The main reason seems to be the rise of online booking.
Over the next 10 years, 40% of people surveyed said they would prefer to use an online booking service than a traditional travel agent.
This trend won’t last long, however. At some point, it seems likely that people will again begin to look towards travel agents to assist them in their travel needs.
Cashier
According to a recent Newsweek article, over half of all American jobs are in some form of jeopardy of being eliminated in the next few years.
In the retail industry, the situation is even worse. In fact, in a recent study, six in ten retail workers in the US expect to lose their jobs in the next five years.
Legal secretary
Telemarketers are the people who call you at home to sell you everything from life insurance to car insurance to credit cards. But are they becoming obsolete?
A recent lawsuit claims that telemarketers are exploiting a loophole in the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) that allows them to call you up to 16 times before they have to stop.
The lawsuit contains a number of disturbing examples of telemarketers using these tactics—and the lawsuit itself is itself riddled with dubious claims.
